OUR STORY

We are the Qualia!

In 2020, Alexandros and Kleri founded the non-profit organization QUALIA. QUALIA derived as an answer to the most basic question we share: “what do people’s experiences become? Art, history, lessons?” From our initial idea and through different community projects, very soon QUALIA started to operate as a socio-cultural collective dedicated to cultural history and heritage, having the concept of experience as its core interest . Thus, in QUALIA people with different starting points and orientations meet professionally, maintaining a common vision about research and the representation of lived experience

“Qualia” (singular quale) are defined as mental states with a very distinctive subjective character, i.e. how each of us experiences situations such as fatigue, the taste of different foods, pain, hunger, heat, or how we see colours, perceive sound, emotions and experiences. So, with a great respect for the subjectivity of experiences, we transform them into creativity!

With this in mind, QUALIA curates theatre performances, exhibitions as well as research and educational programmes for children, adolescents, adults and families. Our goal is a comprehensive understanding and representation of the human experiences socially, historically and culturally, fostering empathy and promoting inclusion.

Socio-Cultural Collective

Long before we founded QUALIA, our team experimented with many forms of co-working, trying to ensure for all of us fair working conditions that lead to real quality results. We believe that respect for the research and implementation process starts internally, which is why we foster a culture of cooperation and inclusion. We love our work and we love working together!
